Where are we
Pitti Historical Home
Via Maggio, 39, FirenzeThe surrounding area
Located directly opposite Piazza Pitti and just steps away from the storied Ponte Vecchio, a medieval stone bridge crossing the River Arno where merchants sell their wares just as they did centuries ago, our home offers an unmatched location in the center of Florence. Several of the flat’s windows offer impressive views of the Palazzo Pitti, a magnificent palace that the Medici’s called home during the Renaissance and which now houses a huge collection of important art. Step out on to the terrace and take advantage of your front seat views of the majestic building whilst you sip a glass of local wine. Nearby, you’ll also find Piazza della Signoria, the Bargello, Santa Croce, the Duomo, and the world-renowned Uffizi Gallery, richly endowed with some of the world’s best works of art. Florence is an open-air museum and Pitti Historical Home is right in the centre of it!
Florence’s historical centre is a Restricted Traffic Zone. We recommend clients coming to Florence to not rent a car or if you do have a car, to leave it parked in a private garage during your stay (we can provide more information on this if required). Florence city centre is quite small and the majority of the streets are either complicated one way systems or for pedestrians only, and therefore the best way of exploring the city is by foot! If you wish to visit other areas of Tuscany or if you need assistance with getting from the train station or airport please contact us!

My wife, mother and cousin and I traveled to Italy for 2 weeks. We stayed in Florence for about 7 days. We were blown away at the attention and help we received from Erica. From greeting us at check in, running us through the property, to setting up transportation and coordinating tours.. She was remarkable. She is also a chef and can come cook or teach a class for you. As far as the property itself.. I almost don't want to tell anyone about it. Has to be the best property I've stayed in ! My cousin who travels to Italy frequently will no longer stay anywhere else when she come to Florence... That's after 30 years of coming to this beautify city. It's hard to explain how great this property is. From the details of its own stationary to the family cookbook in the kitchen to the new renovations and top of the line everything.. Did I mention the (free) bottles of Red wine that are named after the property...The 20 foot ceilings with original frescos intact.. There was even a Christmas tree in the living room for our stay in December. With the view you don't even need to leave the apartment to feel the beauty of Florence. Thank you for a stay of a lifetime.

Donatella's place was incredible. It was one of the best Airbnbs we've ever stayed in. It's in a perfect location with a balcony looking out toward Pitti Palace, close to great restaurants and wine bars and in a trendy but less touristy part of the city. Donatella was very responsive, gave us great recommendations and did everything she could to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The apartment itself is beautiful, with all amenities you could possibly need. It was very spacious and even better than the pictures make it look. I'd highly recommend staying here!

Our stay at Donatella's Pitti Historical Home was exceptional. It was perfectly sized for our group of 8 adults — each couple had their own bedroom with a large bed and an en-suite bathroom. Each room was lovely and private, so no one felt like they got the short end of the stick. The kitchen was well-appointed, and the lovely sitting area looked out on the gorgeous views of the Pitti Palace. The home's decor is very tastefully done — you're transported back to the 17th century, but with all the modern conveniences you'd hope for, like a dishwasher and washer/dryer. It's the perfect mix of old and new and even more magnificent than the pictures. The location of the apartment was excellent — in the heart of Florence and very walkable to everything you'd want to see (and eat) in the city. You wake up and look out the window to the historic palace, and feel like royalty. Finally, the owner, Donatella, and Erika, the house manager, made our stay incredibly special. Erika and her daughter cooked us a delicious meal for our first evening together, with seasonal Italian dishes (and along the way patiently taught us how to make home-made pasta). They helped arrange some incredibly memorable activities during our stay, and Erika was very responsive whenever we had a question or needed assistance. My family can't recommend this property enough.

I can't emphasize enough how pampered we felt at the Pitti Historical Home. Not only is the apartment gorgeous in the way it combines the best of modern and historical touches—surround sound, air conditioning, filtered cold water, wonderful mattresses and linens, mood lighting, fully stocked kitchen, frescoes, heavy wood shutters, exquisite sound insulation—but the hosts are exceptionally thoughtful in their recommendations and accessibility. We stayed for 3 nights, and wish that we had planned on at least a week. The location is a short walking distance to anything you would want to do, and what a treat to return home to the apartment for a glass of wine and quiet night of comfort. We all want to come back to this gorgeous property and lovely hosts as soon as we can.

This glamorous and centrally located property is not only an interior design paradise but it doesn't lack a single modern amenity.
Arrival: When we arrived early the host greeted us with an invitation to come up. We were expecting to just drop off our bags but the property was ready and we received a detailed tour. There is an amazingly detailed home guide and several nice touches like chilled water.
Fun fact: We were amazed to find out The Idiot was written in this very apartment!
Location: You will not find a better location. You are across from the former Medici occupied Pitti Palace and a 3-4 min walk to Ponte Vecchio bridge. There are cafes downstairs and a full grocery store only 5 minutes walk.
Amenities: The apartment is equipped with all the modern amenities including air conditioning, washer/dryer, dishwasher, bathrooms with showers, elevator for bringing bags up. The bonus was the host providing wine that they had developed themselves.

We stayed in this apartment as part of a large family trip (8 people). The apartment was immaculately clean, beautifully appointed, and at a great location, both close to the major sites, but also distant enough to get a more authentic/less touristy Italian experience in the local piazza's. There was plenty of space for the large group, and with air conditioning which made our late summer trip much more pleasant. More importantly, the host/manager Erika was fantastic, providing critical information to help us enjoy the trip as much as possible, meeting us during check-in to make sure we got settled, and arranging for a home-cooked Italian meal which was by far the best culinary experience we had during the trip. Our stay here was the highlight of our trip and we hope to go there again.

OMG! This was one of the best AirBNB experiences we've ever had. The apartment was simply breathtaking with the host having stocked it with great wine and towels and amenities, everything very high end. The location was amazing (although the crowds at night right out of the window, weren't great for sleep). The apartment came with pre-instructions on preferences for bedding, etc. and they came through. Linens and bedding seemed like out of a hotel. There was a lot of rain during our stay in Florence but staying in at this place was just fine with us. Seriously.... if you want a great group stay with family/friends, you can't do much better than this location. To the host.... this was very professionally done.

Our family along with my sisters family party of 8 stayed in this truly magnificent villa for three nights in Florence. We couldn’t be happier with our selection, each room was more beautiful then the next. The location was perfect with a short walk to all of our planned tours and delicious meals. We enjoyed every minute and our meal at the house our first evening prepared by Erika was outstanding. We were immediately made to feel right at home! You truly can’t go wrong renting this Villa. If we ever return we will definitely stay here again!

Giovanni and Donatella were gracious hosts and their historic home is lovely. The location is perfect- whether you want to explore the Boboli Gardens, Pitti Palace or one of the many chic boutiques, this home is perfectly situated. The apartment also has every modern convenience, including a dishwasher and washer and dryer, which is very helpful when traveling with young children. We also loved the luxurious bedding, gracious bed and bathrooms, and the thoughtful guest book that shared wonderful recommendations for dining, gelato, cheese, wine, apertivo, coffee, etc. We look forward to a return visit.

The Pitti Historical Home is a wonderful location for exploring all of the historical sites of Florence. Easy 8-10 minute walk to the Duomo. Tons of shops , restaurants, and wine bars close by! The apartment is roomy, clean, and comfortable. Everything you need is there .Truly a beautiful home! Donatello helped us with reservations before arrival and answered all our questions. Erica was there to greet us and show us around on arrival , and answered us immediately if we had any questions. She helped us with taxi reservations for the day we left. We spent a very enjoyable evening with Erica ,learning to make pasta and creating a fantastic dinner! We enjoyed having wine on our private balcony overlooking the Pitti Palace Piazza. Loved our stay in Florence! Thank you Donatella and Erica!

Everything was amazing! The house is well appointed and looks just like the pictures. The location was incredible - close to everything. Donatella, her husband Gianni and house manager Erika were all very helpful. They all went above and beyond - from helping us find a driver, to arranging a chef cook in our kitchen, to assisting with dinner reservations when we needed a local Italian to help! Everything was perfect and I can't wait to come back.

The title of my review says it all.
Elegance: This apartment has been thoroughly and sensitively renovated and restored giving one an instant sense of its history but at the same time presenting the very best in modern convenience and amenities.
We were very impressed by the rooms which are bright and spacious with high ceilings and awash with light from the huge windows facing the Pitti Palace. The incredible painted ceilings are magnificent and the effort made to preserve the remnants of the frescoed walls was beautifully done. You can’t help but feel a connection to the history of the place.
Luxury: The apartment has every modern feature we could have hoped for. There are even hidden Bluetooth speakers in every room! Sooo cool!!
The marble bathrooms are spacious and worthy of any 5 star hotel and chromotherapy is available in every one of them!
The fully equipped kitchen is one that any professional chef would envy. There is even a machine for making tagliatelle available in the kitchen so one evening we arranged through Donatella and Gianni to contact a fresh pasta maker who came to the apartment and taught us how to make fresh tagliatelle and ragu sauce! What an incredible experience and a lasting memory of our trip!
The furniture is beautiful and comfortable. We found the colour palette, used throughout, calm and restful, with jewel tones that added a note of serenity and tranquility and enhanced the overall ambience.
Location: The apartment is located at the very center of everything in Florence, just a short walk down the street from the Ponte Vecchio.
Everything we wanted to see and do in this city was accessible by foot but taxis were readily available at the front door.
Restaurants are practically at the doorstep, and one of the best coffee houses in the city was just around the corner.
The Santo Spirito neighbourhood is a very trendy area with lots of interesting small shops, hip clothing boutiques, designer ateliers and art galleries on the many small streets around the apartment. We found unique items we didn’t see anywhere else in Florence.
The piazza in front of the Pitti Palace, which is directly across from the apartment, is busy during the day but is very quiet at night so sleeping was not an issue. In fact, even though the apartment is in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city, it was peacefully quiet inside.
Donatella and Gianni are the most gracious of hosts and make every effort to ensure your stay is great!

8 of our extended family met in Florence for a family gathering prior to the holidays. We chose this apartment due to it's location by the Pitti Palace, and the uniquely Florentine character depicted in the listing photos. I must say that the apartment did not disappoint. It provided us with a strategically located base from which to explore the sights of Florence, while providing a comfortable and luxurious space in which to enjoy each other's company while not out on the town. This is not something a hotel can provide. The apartment is filled with comfortable, modern furniture, plenty of the modern conveniences we Americans have come to expect (good internet, plenty of TVs). The beds were comfy, the bedding luxurious, the bathrooms modern and warm. But most pleasing was the particular character of the apartment. There are frescoes everywhere, some 17th Century, some 18th Century, some modern, and some partially destroyed during previous renovations. It is fascinating to be surrounded by such history. The multiple living and dining areas provided the perfect gathering areas for all of us to be together, or for smaller groups to socialize. The kitchen provided the perfect morning gathering spot for pastries and coffee, and one evening we enjoyed the services of a professional chef. It was partially a cooking class, but primarily a delicious dinner of fresh tagliatelle, with spectacular white truffles from the nearby forest. Truly a highlight of our vacation and an unforgettable experience. All of us were very happy with our choice of this apartment, and we can't wait to return.
